Costitx is a town like no other in Mallorca for its surprising position as a scientific hub. The Astronomical Observatory of Mallorca was built here in 1991 and remains in use today. The centre is best known for identifying two new asteroids, one of which was named after the town. Visitors can take part in fantastic tours of the observatory room, witnessing its ten huge telescopes first hand. Costitx is also host to the Mallorca planetarium which offers a brilliant audio visual presentation of our solar system and beyond. To round it off, the Museu de Ciencies (Museum of Sciences) sits closeby, exhibiting rocks, fossils and animals all found on the Island. Read More
