Recent years have seen a revival of a local dairy industry, which suits the town famous for its exquisite flavours and celebrations of local produce. There a two busy weekly markets here, on thursdays and saturdays, where a fantastic array of fresh produce and local handicrafts are sold to a willing crowd. Local restaurants are known for homely Mediterranean dishes, with the town’s bakeries also attracting customers from further afar.
Situated only 8km from the sea, Campos presents a wonderful blend of rural town and seaside life. The beach of Es Trenc is a Mallorcan gem and local secret. Three kilometres of unspoilt golden sand, azure waters and towering trees; it is not difficult to find a length of beach taken only by yourself.
In October there is a splendid harvest fair offering up local produce fresh out the ground. May hosts a cattle fair showcasing local livestock and the produce from a thriving dairy industry, with stalls also selling a variety of food from around the region. Mid August, however, exhibits the most joyous occasion of the Campos calendar. Street parties flood the town with music, dance and food, a real spectacle to behold for tourists, and a treasured occasion for locals.
